Facebook Banned 20,000 Underage Users Per Day

Yesterday, Facebook has admitted to banned about 20, children, are kicked off from giant social network who are underage and lying about their age to join the site. Facebook has revealed that about a third of Australia’s population uses the site every day, reported the Herald Sun. Seven million Australians access Facebook every day, nine million access it each week and nearly 11 million visit the site each month. Globally, about seven million children who lie about their age are blocked from the site each year.
The networking site’s chief privacy adviser Mozelle Thompson told Federal Parliament’s cyber-safety committee: “There are people who lie. There are people who are under 13 [accessing Facebook]. “Facebook removes 20, people a day, people who are underage.”
Mr Thompson said Facebook would soon hire an Australian, who would be based in Australia, to deal with “policy issues”  with local complaints and issues. Chair of the cyber-safety committee Dana Wortley said: “We know there are potential risks that young people face including cyber-bullying, identity theft and privacy issues, illegal content and contact from online predators.”
